Drug Uses
Carafate is used for curing and prevention of ulcers. It can also be used for other conditions as suggested by your doctor.
How Taken
Take Carafate as prescribed by your physician. Use Carafate on an empty stomach at least 1 hour before or twp hours after a meal. Do not take an antacid for at least 30 minutes before or after taking this product. It may take 4 to 8 weeks for complete healing of your ulcer. Continue taking Carafate for the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Do not take Carafate at the same time as other medicines. Use Carafate at least two hours after other medicines. If you are not sure about the best time to use Carafate, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
More Information
Carafate can cause dizziness. These effects may worsen if Carafate is taken with alcohol or certain other medications. Use Carafate with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly dangerous tasks until you know how you respond to this pill. If your symptoms do not improve or if they worsen, call to your doctor. Carafate should be used only by the patient for whom it has been prescribed. Don't use less or more or take it more often than suggested by your doctor.
