Drug Uses
Dapsone is used for treatment of leprosy. It can be used in combination with other drugs. It is also used to cure dermatitis herpetiformis (extremely itchy groups of skin lesions, regularly occurring on the elbows, knees, and scalp). It can also be used for other situations as determined by your doctor.
How Taken
Take Dapsone as ordered by your doctor. Take Dapsone on an empty stomach. If stomach upset occurs, you can take it with meal to reduce stomach irritation. If you also take didanosine, don't take it within 2 hours before or after using Dapsone. To clear up your infection completely, use Dapsone for the full course of healing. Keep taking it even if you feel better in a few days. This pill works best if it is taken at the same time each day.
